Opacum Land Trust
Projects & Properties

Our mission is to identify and protect land that has high conservation value.  These parcels usually contain one or more of the following elements:

  • Habitat for state-listed animals and plants

  • Historic or Prehistoric Sites

  • Wetland and Watershed Protection

  • Greenways

  • Forests & Farmland

  • Scenic Landscapes

The links to the left will provide you with more information about conservation projects that are currently underway, as well as a showcase of properties that have been conserved by Opacum Land Trust.

As of January 2008, Opacum Land Trust has protected 603 acres of land in five towns, and also holds an easement for the Grand Trunk Trail.

a species of  special concern in Massachusetts

It has been proven that
Massachusetts loses at least 44 acres of land
a day to development.

Good planning is the key to keeping our rural towns livable, with a healthy balance of open space at this time of rapid growth.
