Another Monson milestone: 55 more acres protected

November 15, 2021

A lovely stone wall in golden fall foliage at the newly acquired Brouthers CR property in Monson, MA.

This fall, with the Town of Monson owning the Land and Opacum Land Trust owning the Conservation Restriction (CR), we have protected 55 more acres of land, in Monson MA. The Brouthers CR property abuts the Quinlan Memorial Conservation Land where there is parking and trail access. We hope to extend a trail onto the Brouthers CR property from Quinlan, creating a larger network of trails in this area!

This land, just like the Booker CR conserved in July, is important for wildlife habitats, includes historic stone walls, and connects to land already conserved by the town and Norcross Wildlife Foundation. Protecting forests like this is essential to slowing the effects of climate change and connecting larger forested areas in projects like this helps protect water and wildlife.
