2023 Tour Opacum: Bike Ride for Land Conservation a Success!

October 17, 2023

Thank you to everyone that joined us at the Southbridge Credit Union Tour Opacum: Bike Ride for Land Conservation! We lucked out with a gorgeous day and had 192 cyclists participate.

Thanks to everyone that attended, we raised an incredible $23,117, just shy of our $25,000 goal. This will go a long way in preserving our land, water, and wildlife for generations to come. To date, Opacum Land Trust has helped to conserve over 3,800 acres of land in south-central MA. We’re currently working on 9 projects to conserve another 1,118 acres in Brimfield, Monson, Southbridge, Dudley, Hampden, and Holland, MA over the next several years. We couldn’t do this work without your support- THANK YOU!

THANK YOU to all of our cyclists and volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you!

In preparation for Tour Opacum 2024, we are forming a Tour Opacum Advisory Group! Are you an avid cyclist who wants to make a difference? Join the Tour Opacum Advisory Group to help us improve the Tour Opacum experience and spread the word about this exciting event.

Who: Folks from across New England who either participate in cycling events, are active in cycling groups, or work in the cycling industry.

What: Provide advice and feedback to improve the Tour Opacum experience and help spread the word about the event within your network and region.

WhenWe’ll meet 2-3 times per year (only once in person):

  1. An in-person kick-off meeting in the Fall, at a central location TBD, with food and drink provided. This meeting will be a casual get-to-know-you event to provide feedback on the ride and brainstorm for next year.
  2. 1-2 quick Zoom meetings throughout the year to provide updates and event information for you to share with the cycling communities in your region.

As part of the Tour Opacum Advisory Group, you will help us to shape the future of Tour Opacum and support local land conservation at the same time. Interested in joining or learning more? Contact Amy Adams at aadams@opacumlt.org.
